What is a genetic
disorder?
Most diseases are affected to some extent
by both genes and the environment. A genetic
disorder is a condition that's caused by mutations
in a gene or a set of genes. Although some
disorders occur because of spontaneous mutation,
many genetic disorders are inherited. Genetic
disorders are not always obvious at birth.
They may not appear until later in life. |
